Duties

  • To manage and supervise the Production department with the following disciplines; superintendents, supervisors, engineering, technical, production planning, rigging, welding, fabrication, CNC, scaffolding and painting
  • Daily plan and organize all the construction/fabrication work, in the most efficient way, by assigning the required materials, consumables, equipment and resources to effectively execute all projects, including
  • yard development and maintenance projects
  • Take responsibility for managing the Production departments, with the main focus on HSSE, Quality and cost efficiency
  • Manage all the Production work activities to ensure that they are carried out in accordance with the relevant drawings and specifications and/or codes
  • Take responsibility for proper care and safe usage of all equipment falling under Production responsibility and report any damage, repairs or missing items immediately
  • Maintain and implement a strong HSSE culture
  • Report without any delay, any safety or security incidents
  • Maintain and implement a strong QA/QC culture, do it right the first time, implement lessons learned
  • Ensure that the relevant QA/QC and HSSE procedures are understood
  • Supervise the Engineering office to ensure the engineering deliverables are on time and aligned with the requirements of the fabrication Schedule
  • Verify that Client issued drawings and specifications provide adequate detail and definition for the work execution and advice the Project Engineer and Project Manager of any deficiencies or clarifications needed
  • Hold Constructability reviews and determine the most effective and appropriate methods of construction for the project scope of work execution and ensure maximum effective use of resources
  • To be the primary point of contact between Production and the Client to maintain a good working relationship to resolve potential issues before they arise
  • Ensure that the Production progress is maintained in line with the monthly and Weekly Schedule
  • Establish and/or review the construction procedures for the project
  • Ensure that the Production man-hours and cost are maintained within the project budgets
  • To coordinate the work and activities of subcontractors employed on the project and to ensure that they are fully aware of their obligations and responsibilities before work starts
  • Prepare the input for the preparation of the level 2, 3 & 4 planning, including subcontractors
  • Prepare for and participate in the weekly meetings with the Clients and the production of the weekly reports
  • Be involved in the preparation and of subcontracts, prepare their scope of work
  • Highlight any concerns in relation to Client provided items, AFC drawings etc.
  • To act as Project Manager for new larger projects, with a focus on costs, contracts and change orders
  • To become part of the Marketing and Sales taskforce and assist with the preparation of procedures, PEP’s and review contracts, proposals and pricing

Requisites

  • An MSc degree in engineering
  • More than 15 years of experience in construction/fabrication work for the O&G Industry, such as platforms, modules, subsea structures, buoys, spools, etc.
  • Relevant experience in the above-mentioned field working in Africa
  • More than 5 years of leadership experience in a senior management position
  • Experience as a project manager in a fabrication yard
  • Experience in contract management is recommended
  • Experience in tender management and or marketing and sales is recommended
  • Must have the ability to work with and train other members of the team at all levels
  • Must have a strong focus on maintaining and implementing HSSE
  • Good reading and writing skills, in Portuguese and English languages
