The UNDP internship programme offers an outstanding graduate-level student the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNDP’s work with the objective of deepening his/her knowledge and understanding of UNDP’s goals, principles, and activities. It is designed to complement development-oriented studies with practical experience in various professional aspects
The objective of the internship: Provide support to the Economic Unit of the office
Under the overall guidance of the Senior Economic Advisor, the incumbent will provide overall support to the Economics Unit ensuring high quality of work, accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery. The Economics Unit Assistant promotes a client-oriented and consistent with rules and regulations approach in the Unit
The Economics Unit Assistant works in close collaboration with the other service center team members in close collaboration with UNDP Inclusive Growth Cluster Leader, as well as other Operations, Programme and projects staff in the CO and UN agencies staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery

Duties

Ensures efficient administrative support, focusing on achievement of the following results:
Draft of short technical notes on development issues
Gathering of information on socioeconomic issues
Elaboration of tables and charts in Excel
Elaboration of presentations in PowerPoint
Draft of meeting minutes in Word
Technical translations from English to Portuguese and vice-versa
Support to technical and logistics arrangements for workshops and meetings hosted by the UNDP in the areas of the competency of the Senior Economic Advisor
Other duties as directed by the Senior Economic Advisor

Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in Economics or International Relations
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in Economics or International Relations
Have graduated with a university degree in Economics or International Relations (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation
Fluency in Portuguese and good working knowledge of English is required
