UNDP is recruiting an ICT Intern, to be based in Luanda, Angola.

Duties
Under the overall guidance of the UNDP ICT Associate, the Intern provides daily technical support to end-users on the information management tools and technology infrastructure. ICT Intern promotes a client-oriented approach
Provides effective support focusing on achievement of the following results:
Provides daily on-site support on the usage of software and hardware to the end-users
Researches and retrieves the data from various sources; preparation of statistical charts, tables and reports as required
Helps to ensure that information and communication technology (ICT) equipment is in good working condition and assists with maintenance and minor repairs
Assists in the installation of commercial and in-house software and related upgrades
Responds to end-user needs regarding network access
Supports equipment inventory and ICT Unit record-keeping
Performs additional tasks as requested by supervisor, as appropriate

Requisites

  • Demonstrates a keen interest in the work of the UN, and of UNDP in particular
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
  • Reasonable IT skills and knowledge
  • Understanding of UN/UNDP mandates and specifics of activities
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work possibly under time constraints
  • Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude, pro-activity
  • Remains calm, in control and good humored even under pressure
  • Be enrolled in the final academic years of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in information and communications technology, information systems, computer science, information systems, cybernetics or related field
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in the above fields
  • Have graduated with a university degree in information and communications technology, information systems, computer science, cybernetics or related field (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation
  • No experience required
  • Fluency in Portuguese and good working knowledge of English

Conditions Of Internship

  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring government or institutions
  • The intern must provide proof of enrollment in the health insurance plan
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship
    Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity
